End of the Year!

I have planned many wonderful things to do. We are going to do a similar activity invloving a different person. We will do the right to left brain experimenting. Last year, many people did a wonderful job with Albert Einstein. This year, I hope they all come out good. I can’t wait!

Human Body Systems

We are going to be wrapping up the year with the human body systems. We are now working on the Respiratory Rap. Next, we are going to be studying the nervous system which includes the brain. The nervous system controls muscles. It includes nerves which carry messages. It has 2 major centers. The central nervous system includes the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system includes all the other nerves.

The brain makes up the 1/40 of total body mass; 10 billion nerve cells in your brain. Their parts include cerebrum, cerebellum, and the brain stem. The spinal cord lies within the vertebral cord.

Over the summer, try to think of a topic for the Science Fair project next year!

Human Body Systems- March 13, 2008

We are starting a new unit about the human body systems. This unit consists of 7 chapters. It is your responsibility to do the homework that I have assigned. The skeleton model is looking fantastic. Today, we will be taking a ‘pop’ quiz on the 3 question I have written on the board. You should have finished reading Chapter 17 by today.

We need some background information on the new unit. In your book, there is an interesting question which is: How are chickens and rice connected? This sounds interesting doesn’t it. Read to find out more on page 486- 487.
